Greta Thunberg is being deported from Israel after the Israeli military intercepted an aid vessel bound for Gaza that she was aboard, according to Israel's Foreign Ministry and a legal advocacy group on Tuesday.
The foreign ministry confirmed Thunberg’s departure to France by posting a photo of her on a plane via X.
Adalah, the legal group representing Thunberg and others, said she, along with two other activists and a journalist, agreed to leave the country voluntarily. Several other detainees refused deportation and remain in custody, awaiting a hearing by Israeli authorities.
Thunberg was part of a 12-member team aboard the vessel Madleen, which aimed to deliver aid to Gaza as a form of protest against the ongoing war and humanitarian crisis in the blockaded enclave. Israel considers such missions a violation of its naval blockade on Gaza.
