In a bizarre incident, a young couple was caught allegedly engaging in intimate act inside an air-conditioned (AC) bus operated by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) on Sunday evening, reports Times of India.
The couple in their early 20s were captured while they were seated near a window in the back row. The video, allegedly recorded by a commuter from a nearby vehicle, captured the couple’s act which went viral among the netizens.
As per the report, a senior NMMT official said that departmental proceedings have been initiated against the bus conductor for failing to stop the bizarre incident.
“The conductor (name withheld) has been warned and asked to submit a written explanation on how such vulgar activity took place on his watch," the official said as quoted by the news outlet, adding that the conductor was seated in the front and was reportedly unaware of the incident occurring behind him.
RTI activist Anarjit Chauhan, who brought up the matter, said, “The bus was fairly empty as it travelled from Panvel to Kalyan on Sunday. Due to heavy traffic, the bus slowed down, and someone from another vehicle noticed the couple engaging in the act near the window. That’s when the video was taken and shared with civic authorities.”
Under Section 296 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, an obscene act in a public place can attract a jail term of three months and/or fine of Rs 1,000. At the time of going to press, the civic body hadn't approached police.
