Israeli airstrikes killed at least 58 more Palestinians in Gaza, according to the Health Ministry, raising the death toll from Israel's ongoing conflict since October 2023 to 50,810. In the last 24 hours, 213 people were also injured and transferred to hospitals, bringing the total number of injuries to 115,688.
The statement from the Health Ministry also noted that many victims remain trapped under rubble, with rescuers unable to reach them. Gaza’s civil defense agency reported that at least 19 more people were killed in Israeli overnight airstrikes. Among the casualties were several children and adults, with five children and four adults killed in a home strike in Deir el-Balah. Additionally, separate strikes in Gaza City and Beit Lahia resulted in 10 more deaths.
Israel resumed heavy airstrikes on Gaza on March 18, ending a two-month cease-fire with Hamas. Attempts to restore the cease-fire have thus far been unsuccessful. Since the resumption of the conflict, at least 1,449 Palestinians have been killed, with over 3,600 others injured in the renewed violence.
The escalation of the war follows Hamas’ attack on southern Israel in October 2023, which resulted in 1,218 deaths. In response, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in Gaza.
