Stock indices at both the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges saw a positive trend in the first hour of trading on Wednesday, as most companies experienced gains in share prices.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX index climbed by 5 points during the opening hour, reflecting investor optimism. However, the Shariah-based DSES index and the blue-chip DS-30 index remained stable, showing little movement.
Out of the 377 stocks traded, 190 saw price increases, 107 experienced declines, and 80 remained unchanged. The trading volume on the DSE during the first hour surpassed Tk 170 crore, signaling active market participation.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also displayed a positive trend, with its overall index gaining 11 points in early trading. Of the 54 issues traded, 32 saw their prices rise, 16 experienced a drop, and 6 remained steady. The trading volume on the CSE reached over Tk 60 lakh during the first hour.
