Digital financial transaction platform “Google Pay” was officially launched in the country on Tuesday morning.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur officially unveiled Google’s flagship fintech service at a ceremony held at a Dhaka hotel.
City Bank Plc has introduced the platform for Bangladeshi smartphone users with support from Mastercard, Visa and Google. To this end, only City Bank Plc card users can avail the service for now. Google Pay can be used for payments at authorized stores, app subscription and in-app purchases.
During the launching ceremony, US Embassy’s Charge D’affaires Tracey Ann Jacobson and City Bank Vice Chairman Hossain Khaled were also present.
