The government on Monday launched a new mobile application to provide end consumers with real-time price data on essential agricultural produce.
The Daffodil Institute of IT has developed the app free-of-cost at the request of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP).
On Monday morning, DNCRP Director General Alim Akhter Khan unveiled the app named “Bazardar.”
The app would inform its users, residing anywhere in the world, of the maximum retail prices of a set of essential agricultural products in different districts of the country. It can be downloaded on any android smartphone. Its services are also available offline.
The app developer Ibrahim Mollah told reporters, “Bazardar would ease up the process to ensure fair prices for essential agricultural products for retail consumers. In this way the app would work towards eliminating market malpractices and price rigging.”
