Trading on the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges opened on a positive note on Monday, the second working day of the week, with key indices showing early gains and most listed firms recording price increases.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX index rose by 24 points. The Shariah-based DSES index advanced by 8 points, while the blue-chip DS30 gained 7 points.
Out of the traded securities, 256 saw price increases, 39 declined, and 72 remained unchanged. In the first hour of trading, share and unit transactions on the DSE exceeded Tk 80 crore.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) index gained 34 points. Of the 53 companies traded, prices rose for 26, dropped for 15, and stayed flat for 12. Turnover at the CSE stood at over Tk 40 lakh in the opening hour.
