Jewellers have inflated the gold price by Tk 2,193 to Tk1,74,528 per bhori (11.664 grams) in the local market within two days of dropping the tariff on the precious metal.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Saturday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk 14,963 per gram, while it is Tk 14,283 for 21-carat, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 12,243 a gram, while that of traditional gold at Tk 10,131 a gram.
New tariffs will come into effect from Sunday, read the release.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 241 per gram, 21-carat Tk 230 per gram, 18-carat Tk 197, and traditional one is Tk 148.
