The benchmark Dhaka stock index plunged by 2.47% in the first half of Wednesday as retail investors reacted to the latest India-Pakistan clashes.
There were heavy selling pressures owing to uncertainties over the impact on Bangladesh, market insiders said. Some of these were "overreactions," they said.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, lost 2.47%, or 122.61 points, to stand at 4,829.11 as of 1:16pm.
The Shariah-based DSES index dropped 3.17% to 1,055.34, while the DS30, which comprises blue-chip stocks, fell 1.88% to 1,799.26.
