Jewellers have increased the price of gold by Tk3,662 to Tk1,74,948 per bhori (11.664 grams) within four days of dropping the price of the precious metal.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision during a meeting held on Tuesday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk14,999 per gram and 21-carat gold Tk14,318 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk12,272 a gram, while that of traditional gold at Tk10,156 per gram.
New prices will come into effect on Wednesday, the release added.
However, the price of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk241 per gram, 21-carat Tk 230, 18-carat Tk 197 and traditional one is Tk 148 per gram.
