Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk2,309 to Tk1,71,286 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Monday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk1,71,286 per bhori, and 21-carat Tk1,63,494 per bhori, read a press release.
On the other hand, the price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk1,40,143 a bhori while that of traditional gold at Tk1,15,905 per bhori.
New tariffs would come into effect on Tuesday.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged, it added.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk2,811 per bhori, 21-carat Tk2,683, 18-carat Tk2,298, and traditional one is Tk1,726 per bhori.
