Bangladesh saw the remittance inflow of 275.20 crore US dollars, which is equivalent to Tk 33,574 crore in local currency (Tk 122 per dollar).
Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the matter on Sunday.
According to the latest report of Bangladesh Bank, remittances of 275.20 crore US dollars came to the country in April. And in the same period last year, 204.40 million dollars came. The remittance flow has increased by 34.60 percent year-on-year.
Stating that expatriates sent 14.40 crore dollars to the country in a single day on April 30, the central bank also said that remittances came to the country from July to April of the current fiscal year, 2453 crore dollars, which is an increase of 28.30 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, remittances of 328.99 crore US dollars came to the country in March, which is the highest in any single month in the country's history, which was equivalent to, which amounts to Tk 40,138 crore taka (in local currency (Tk 122 per dollar).
Previously, the highest remittance in the country's history (about $264 crore) came in last December. Last January, remittances came in at $218.52 crore.
