Commerce adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has said that the supply of soybean oil will return to normalcy in next two days.
The adviser on Monday made the statement in media briefing after visiting Mohammadpur kitchen market in the capital. Industries adviser Adilur Rahman Khan was present during the press briefing.
Saying that there are no scarcity daily necessary goods except soybean, he said: “There is nothing to deny about.”
After upholding the scenario he expressed his hope that the supply situation will improve from today.
In response to a question about the increase in the price of soybean oil, he said: “Just as soybean oil is being sold at a higher price, palm oil is being sold at a price 25 taka lower than the government-set price.”
He added: “60 percent of our total edible oil is palm oil. The price of oil in the market has decreased and increased simultaneously. I hope the price of soybean oil will also decrease.”
At that time, Commerce ministry secretary Mahbubur Rahman, Industries ministry secretary Md Obaidur Rahman, National Consumer Rights Protection DG Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan and BSTI DG S M Ferdous Alam were present in the briefing.
