North South University (NSU) and Bangladesh Specialized Hospital (BSH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding clinical training, applied research, and professional development in pharmaceutical sciences, says a press release.
The agreement, signed on Sunday between NSU’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, will provide students and faculty with greater access to hospital-based internships, hands-on clinical exposure, and joint research opportunities.
Through the partnership, academic learning will be more closely integrated with real-world healthcare practice. Joint training programmes, workshops, and research initiatives are expected to enhance students’ practical skills and strengthen evidence-based pharmaceutical practice within hospital settings.
The collaboration is also designed to support faculty development by creating shared platforms for clinical research and professional engagement. Officials said the initiative would contribute to improved patient care, innovation in pharmaceutical sciences, and the development of skilled healthcare professionals.
The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of North South University, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, the Treasurer, Professor Dr. Abdur Rob Khan, and the Managing Director of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Zahid Hossain. Dean of the School of Health & life Sciences, Professor Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, and the Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Hossain Shariare, were also present.
The MoU reflects a shared commitment by North South University and Bangladesh Specialized Hospital to strengthen Bangladesh’s healthcare system through integrated education, research, and clinical collaboration.
