Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator and freedom fighter Md. Abdus Salam has called on officials and employees to remain active round the clock to ensure prompt delivery of services to city residents.
“Public service is the core responsibility of the City Corporation, and everyone must work tirelessly to fulfill that mandate,” he said while addressing a New Year’s event held at the historic Ahsan Manzil premises on Tuesday, marking Pohela Boishakh.
He noted that city services operate on a 24-hour basis and emphasized the need for continued field-level engagement to meet public expectations and keep pace with ongoing development activities. “We often have to work even on weekends. Services must be delivered quickly to the doorsteps of the people,” he added.
The DSCC administrator stressed that a coordinated effort is essential to build a modern, clean and livable Dhaka. He reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to improving civic services in line with government directives.
Outlining key priorities for the year ahead, Abdus Salam said mosquito control, improved waste management and reducing waterlogging would receive special attention. He expressed optimism that these initiatives would help create a healthier and greener city.
He also said that such New Year celebrations play an important role in introducing younger generations to Dhaka’s history and heritage, adding that stronger cultural roots would further promote the growth of Bengali traditions.
