The Tejgaon Police Station of the DMP has arrested four members of an organized human skeleton theft gang with 47 skulls and a large amount of human bones from the Tejgaon Police Station area of the capital.
The arrested are Kazi Jahurul Islam alias Soumik, 25, Md. Abul Kalam , 39, Asadul Munshi alias Jasim alias Ershad, 32 and Md. Faisal Ahmed, 26. During the operation, 47 skulls, along with bones of various human body parts, were recovered from their custody while they were kept in different plastic market bags.
According to Tejgaon Police Station, the police station area operation team came to know based on secret information that a person was illegally collecting human skeletons from the graveyard on the road in front of Gate No. 1 in Manipuripara under Tejgaon Police Station for the purpose of selling them. Later, a drive was conducted and Md. Abul Kalam and Asadul Munshi alias Jasim alias Ershad were arrested.
Then, two human skeletons were recovered from their custody. Later, based on the information given by the arrested, a drive was conducted in a medical college hostel and Md. Faisal Ahmed was arrested. At that time, 44 human skeletons were recovered from his custody in scattered condition. A regular case has been registered against the arrested persons at Tejgaon Police Station in this regard.
Initial interrogation revealed that this gang had confessed to stealing human skeletons from various graveyards in the country, including Gazipur, and selling them to various people at high prices. There are 21 cases against the arrested Md. Abul Kalam in various police stations across the country and two cases against the arrested Asadul Munshi alias Jasim alias Ershad. Legal action is being taken against the arrestees.
