A fire broke out at a multistoried building in Mirpur-2 in the capital’s Dhaka on Monday, prompting a swift response from firefighters, reports UNB.
The blaze erupted on the second floor of the 11-storey building, identified as LA Plaza, at around 1:52 pm, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector at the media cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.
After receiving the alert, four firefighting units rushed to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control.
Firefighters rescued 19 people who had become trapped inside a room in the building.
The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.
No casualties had been reported as of filing this report.
