A fire that broke out at a shoe factory in a multi-storey building in Old Dhaka on Monday night was brought under control after about an hour of firefighting efforts.
The blaze erupted around 10:45pm on the fourth floor of a seven-storey building on Agamasi Lane, Aga Sadek Road, said Talha bin Zasim of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) media office.
Three firefighting units rushed to the scene shortly after the incident and managed to bring the flames under control at approximately 11:35pm.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the upper floors as firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building.
No casualties were reported.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be immediately determined.
