Jamaat’s parliamentary candidate for the Cumilla-11 constituency and the party’s Naib-e-Amir, Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher, said the overall election atmosphere remains positive so far and expressed optimism about his party’s prospects.
“If there is no conspiracy regarding the election, we are hopeful of winning. So far, the election atmosphere is good,” he said after casting his vote at Dekra Government Primary School in Alkara Union of Chauddagram at 10:00am on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Taher visited the graves of his parents.
He said his party would accept the results of a fair election and is awaiting what he described as a final victory. “If voting continues in this manner, around 70 percent turnout is expected,” he added.
Upon entering the polling booth, Dr. Taher first collected the ballot for the referendum and then cast his votes for both the party symbol and the referendum.
