A fire broke out in a Bhuiyan Paribahan bus parked in the Uttara House Building area of the capital on Friday morning. The incident occurred at around 9:30 am, but no casualties were reported as there were no passengers inside the bus at the time.
According to police and fire service sources, the bus was parked when the fire started. Uttara Purba Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Morshed Alam said the driver and helper had left the engine running while they got down to drink tea. During that time, a mechanical fault developed in the engine, causing the bus to catch fire.
Upon receiving the information, two units of the Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. Duty Officer of the Fire Service Control Room, Khaleda Yasmin, said the fire was completely extinguished by 10:12 am. As the bus was empty, no loss of life or major accident occurred.
