A mother and daughter were hacked to death in Mohammadpur in the capital. Their bodies were recovered from a house on Shahjahan Road in Mohammadpur on Monday morning. The deceased were housewife Laila Afroz (48) and her daughter Nafisa Binte Aziz (15).
Police have also collected CCTV footage of the building after the incident. The footage shows a young woman wearing a white salwar kameez, a printed headscarf and sneakers slowly coming down the stairs of the building at 9:36 am. She had a bag on her back and a mask on face. At that time, three people were sitting at the main entrance of the building. When the young woman came out, one of them stood up and opened the gate. Later, the young woman left the building and got into an auto rickshaw.
Police believe that the young woman was the housekeeper of the deceased Nafisa's house. After entering the house and killing the mother and daughter, she left wearing Nafisa's clothes.
According to the sources, the house owner, Azizul Islam, left the house for work in the morning. Later, when he returned, he found his wife and daughter covered in blood. At that time, he found his daughter Nafisa alive, but later she also died after being taken to the hospital.
Police said that after receiving the information, they reached the spot and found the bloody body of Laila Afroz. In addition, the relatives had taken the daughter Nafisa to the hospital in a dying state. Later, the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Meanwhile, the relatives and neighbors of the deceased rushed to the spot after hearing the news of the murder. They alleged that the house maid of the house may have been involved in the incident. Following such allegations, the police have already collected CCTV footage of the house where the house maid was seen leaving wearing the clothes of the deceased Nafisa.
