Three people were killed in a bus-truck collision in Purba Bongram area of Santhia upazila on the Pabna-Dhaka highway.
At least 10 more were injured in the incident. The injured have been admitted to Pabna General Hospital.
The accident occurred around 5:30 am on Friday. Police have confirmed the names of two of the three deceased. They are Abed Ali, 38, son of the late Hashem Molla of Shantipur village in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna, and Mansur Ali 40, son of the late Yad Ali of Ataikura Kali Dar Para village in Santhia upazila.
Madhpur Highway Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman said, “A bus named Pabna Express carrying passengers from Narayanganj was heading towards Pabna. On the way, it collided with a truck laden with stones coming from the opposite direction in Purba Bongram area. Three passengers of the bus were killed on the spot. On receiving information, policemen of the police station recovered the bodies of the deceased. The injured were sent to the hospital.”
Police believe the accident occurred because the bus driver was asleep.
