Three female students from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have been expelled from Taposhi Rabeya Hall following confirmed allegations of ragging a first-year student. The action was taken under Section-7 of the university’s ‘Ordinance for Student Discipline,’ as stated in an official notice signed by acting Registrar Md Helal Uddin on Thursday night.
The accused—Maria Sultana Mim, Zubaida Jannat Soha, and Ashika Rushda—all belong to the Faculty of Agriculture. Maria has been suspended from the dormitory for one year, while Zubaida and Ashika have each received six-month suspensions.
According to Prof. Israt Jahan Shelly, provost of the hall, the disciplinary orders have been received and will be formally served. “No injustice will be tolerated on campus. Ragging is a clear offense,” she said, confirming that all necessary evidence had been submitted to the vice-chancellor, who maintains a strict policy on student misconduct.
The university’s swift action reflects its ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful academic environment for all students.
