After remaining locked for 40 consecutive days, operations at Nagar Bhaban – the headquarters of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) -- resumed this (Monday) morning.
Regular administrative functions recommenced at the start of the workday, with officials from various departments returning to their posts.
However, the offices of DSCC Administrator Shahajan Mia and several engineers remained padlocked.
Earlier on May 14, BNP leader Ishraque Hossain’s supporters began protests demanding his immediate swearing-in as mayor.
The following day, demonstrators padlocked the main gates of Nagar Bhaban, effectively suspending civic services under the DSCC.
On Sunday, during a gathering at the protest site, movement coordinator and former secretary Moshiur Rahman called on DSCC officers and staff to resume their duties.
