Dhaka ranked 35th among cities with the poorest air quality on Monday morning, recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 66 at 9:45am.
According to the AQI index, the city’s air was classified as ‘moderate’—indicating a minor health concern for a limited number of sensitive individuals.
As per AQI standards, when particle pollution levels fall between 50 and 100, the air quality is considered ‘moderate’. In such conditions, people with respiratory issues or other sensitivities are advised to reduce prolonged outdoor activity. An AQI reading between 101 and 150 is categorized as ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups,’ 151 to 200 as ‘unhealthy,’ 201 to 300 as ‘very unhealthy,’ and anything above 300 is deemed ‘hazardous,’ posing significant health risks to the general population.
