Announcing the shutdown of Jagannath University, it’s Teachers' Association general secretary professor Dr. Rais Uddin said, "I will tell the government to accept our reasonable demands. If the demands are accepted, we will leave Kakrail with the students and go to the campus in two minutes."
He said this at a press conference organized at Kakrail intersection at 5:30 pm on Thursday.
The Teachers' Association General Secretary said, "I will tell the government to accept our reasonable demands. If the demands are accepted, we will leave the streets with the students and go to the campus in just two minutes. If the demands are not accepted, no one can remove us from the road. I will also say: all our teachers and students are on the road, so there is no need to open the campus anymore. Let that campus remain closed, let there be a shutdown.”
Earlier in the afternoon, Professor Rais Uddin said, "We have come here with the just rights of Jagannath University. We have come to realize the demands of it. The police have attacked us indiscriminately. This is complete anarchy and injustice! We have not come here to speak against anyone, we have not come here to conspire. We have come to raise our demands. We will not return home without fulfilling the demands. The shutdown will continue at Jagannath University until our demands are fulfilled. No classes or examination activities will be held at Jagannath University. We will return home after fulfilling our demands.”
