In response to the ongoing extreme heatwave, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has opened a dedicated Heatstroke Center at its Covid-19 hospital in Mohakhali. The facility will offer free medical treatment to individuals suffering from heat-related illnesses, according to a DNCC press release issued Sunday, reports UNB.
To support public relief efforts, DNCC Administrator has also instructed regional officers to coordinate with mosque committees to keep prayer and ablution rooms open from 11:00 AM to Maghrib. The Islamic Foundation will be formally notified of this directive in the next working day via the Health Department.
Additionally, the heatstroke center has been added to the National Emergency Service 999, allowing Dhaka North residents to access information and emergency care by calling the hotline. These combined efforts reflect DNCC’s proactive approach in addressing the public health risks posed by the soaring temperatures.
