The overpopulated capital city, Dhaka, ranked third among cities with the worst air quality on Wednesday morning, with an AQI score of 169 at 9:35am.
According to the AQI index, air was classified as ‘unhealthy,’ posing a serious health threat.
While Dhaka’s air quality was ‘moderate’ on Tuesday morning with an AQI score of 97, it deteriorated once again within a day, returning to the ‘unhealthy’ category.
Pakistan’s Lahore, China’s Wuhan, and the Philippines’ Manila ranked first, second, and fourth respectively, with AQI scores of 177, 172, and 162.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) reports daily air quality, indicating how clean or polluted the air is in a given city and what health effects may be of concern.
Dhaka has long struggled with air pollution, though experts anticipate an improvement in air quality during the monsoon season.
