A Dhaka court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against film director Chayanika Chowdhury in a cheque dishonour case.
Dhaka’s 7th Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Bulbul Islam issued the order.
The plaintiff's lawyer Abdus Salam Himel informed the journalists.
Court sources said that Tuesday was set for the cross-examination of the plaintiff producer Rashedul Islam Riaz. However, the accused, Chayanika Chowdhury, did not appear in court. Her lawyer submitted a time petition. But the court rejected the plea.
The court also cancelled Chayanika’s bail and issued an arrest warrant.
Besides, the court set June 26 as the date for presenting arguments in the case.
On May 14, 2013, producer Rashedul Islam Riaz filed the case.
