Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Azaz said that modern equipment will be installed at 25 locations in DNCC with the support of Bloomberg to monitor air quality in the capital.
He revealed the information while speaking at a function on Monday.
Azaz said that with the help of botanists, trees will be planted in various areas under DNCC and along the banks of canals.
He also said that the city lacks the amount of public space it should have, and the condition of water bodies is similarly poor, which is harmful to the environment.
Professor Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin from the Department of Botany at the University of Dhaka, Chairman of the Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies Dr Ahmed Kamruzzaman Majumder, World Vision’s National Director Suresh Bartlett, DNCC’s Chief Executive Officer Abu Sayed Md Kamruzzaman, DNCC Secretary Md Asaduzzaman, among others, were present.
