Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the killing of Jahidul Islam Parvez, a third-year student of Primeasia University, in the capital's Banani area on Saturday.
The arrestees are Al Kamal Sheikh, Alvi Hasan Zunayed, and Al Amin sani. They are all 19 years old.
A team of police arrested them from the Mohakhali Wireless Gate area early today (April 21), said AKM Moin Uddin, inspector (operations) of Banani Police Station.
"They are not named in the FIR, but primary investigation suggests they were involved in the murder," the police official said. CCTV footage also confirmed their presence at the crime scene, he added.
Eight named individuals, including two leaders of the Banani Thana unit of Student Against Discrimination (SAD), along with at least 25 unnamed persons, were sued early yesterday in connection with the killing.
Jahidul (24), a student of the textile engineering department, was stabbed to death around 4:40 pm, hours after a brief altercation near the university premises.
The case was filed by the victim's cousin, Humayun Kabir. He said he identified the accused based on CCTV footage.
