The students have relaxed the Barasat Barricade to North City program somewhat in a one-point demand to transfigure the Titumir College into a university.
In this, they have declared the Mohakhali rail crossing area and Dhaka-Mymensingh highway blockade program exempted from the scope of the program. This decision was taken considering the suffering of the devotees of Bishwa Ijtema.
Ali Ahmed, a student leading the movement, made this announcement at a press conference in front of the college at 12:30 pm on Sunday.
He said: “Today was the last day of Ijtema’s first phase. Religious devotees from across the country participated in it.”
Taking their measures into consideration, they have withdrawn their railway and Dhaka-Mymensingh highway blockade program for Sunday. “But the blockade program will continue on other roads inside North City,” he continued.
Meanwhile, around 12 pm, they blocked Mohakhali-Gulshan road with a bamboo barricade in front of the main gate of the college. All types of vehicles have been stopped on Gulshan-Mohakhali roads. Commuters have been suffering due to the students’ blockade.
