At least four people including a mother and her son were killed as three compartments of Mohanganj Express train were set on fire in the capital’s Tejgaon on Tuesday while BNP-Jamaat’s hartal is underway.
Two of the deceased were identified as Nadira Akter Popi, 35, and her son Yeasin, 3 of Netrokona. The identity of the rest two deceased could not be known immediately.
The incident occurred around 5 am on Tuesday and three firefighting units were sent to the spot to douse the blaze, said in-charge of Fire Service Headquarters (Media Cell) Shahjahan Sikhder.
The fire was brought under control around 7:00 am after a frantic effort, he added.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp assistant in-charge Md Masud said four bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
